Privacy policy

Tella is operated by PatrolX Technologies Pty Ltd, Melbourne, Australia. This policy explains what personal information we handle when you use tellasocialbot.com and the Tella app, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address and, if you give them, your name and business name.
  • Business details: your answers to our setup questions (what your business does, how it talks, your website or social handle), your brand brief and notes from your discovery call.
  • What you send Tella: photos, video clips, messages, and the posts, scripts and videos made from them, including who approved them and when.
  • Avatar and voice (video plans): the recording used to build your avatar and cloned voice, held by our video provider.
  • Connection keys: the API keys you give us, such as your Buffer key, stored encrypted.
  • Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive a record that you paid; we never see your full card details.
  • Notifications: if you turn them on, the push address of your device.
  • Usage records: counts of posts and video minutes against your plan, and technical logs needed to run and secure the service.

The website has no advertising or analytics trackers. The Tella app keeps your sign-in session in your browser's storage so you stay signed in.

Why we use it

  • To make your posts and videos and publish the ones you approve.
  • To learn your business's style from what you tell us and from your public website or social account.
  • To run your account: sign-in codes, notifications, your team, your plan allowance and billing.
  • To support you, fix problems and keep the service secure.

We don't sell personal information, use it for advertising, or train AI models on it.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers needed to run Tella, and only for that purpose:

  • Database and sign-in hosting (stored in Sydney, Australia) and our application servers (Sydney).
  • AI providers that write captions and scripts and produce videos.
  • A media hosting service that stores your photos and videos at unlisted web addresses so the social networks can fetch them.
  • The system that runs our post and video production.
  • Buffer, which publishes approved posts to the accounts you connected, under Buffer's own terms.
  • Stripe, for payments.
  • Your device's push notification service, if you turn notifications on.

Some of these providers process information outside Australia, including in the United States. Once a post is published, it's public on the networks you chose, under their terms. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.

How we protect it

API keys are encrypted with a key held outside the database. Access to client records is restricted, and our team's access requires two-factor authentication and is logged. More detail is on the security page.

How long we keep it

We keep your account, brand brief, posts and media while you're a Tella customer or on a free trial, so you can see your post history and Tella keeps your style. If you ask us to close your account, we delete your account, brand details, keys, posts and media from our systems and ask our providers to delete your avatar and voice, except for records we must keep by law (such as payment and tax records).

Your choices

  • Access or correct your information: ask us, or edit your details in the Tella app.
  • Delete your account and data: email us from the address on your account.
  • Disconnect your social accounts at any time by deleting your API key in Buffer.
  • Turn off notifications in the app or in your device settings.
